This publication focuses his study in the gallery portraits of Madrid that Pedro de Velasco, knight of Santiago and tutor of the Juan José de Austria, had in his palace in Espinosa de los Monteros (Burgos). These art works were made by Domingo de Carrión, a collaborator of Velázquez. Velázquez's workshop and Carrión's participation are studied in this paper till the year 1889, when Fernando Fernández de Velasco purchased the portraits of Carrión and other works, trying to build for himself an identity founded on historical tradition in his palace of Soñanes in Villacarriedo (Cantabria).
