The values of the architectural heritage must be a basic criterion for its analysis before any intervention and maintenance action. For its correct definition we rely on a critical analysis of the proposals that have existed since the beginning of the 19th century. In this work we analyse the values and subvalues included in historical and current restoration charters, those that can be deduced from conservation laws in some countries, and those that have been proposed by the most recognised authors in this field over recent years. With this we develop a proposal of values that will help to define the appropriate criteria for intervention in the architectural heritage.
