This article analyzes the allegorical medal portraits of Mary of Hungary. It explores the shift from the Germanic tradition—linked to her role as a mourning widow and her political perseverance—to the figure of Victory, influenced by Italian classicism. This visual transition, promoted alongside her humanist advisors, allowed her to project an image of a strategic and protective ruler, thereby consolidating her authority and facilitating the transfer of power.
