The biography of Antonio López, first Marquis of Comillas, written by Martín Rodrigo y Alharilla, comes at a time of intense social debate about colonialism and slavery. The book describes his human trajectory in Cuba and Spain intertwined with that of his companies, together with new documents and interpretations that constitute a reflection on the Spain of the 19th century in relation to these debates.
